Minnie’s turn

After seeing what I did for Karen, my youngest sister Minnie decided to have her share as well. Of course being the youngest, she usually gets what she wants. So here is the graphic piece that I’m giving her to display in her dorm/apartment room when she is back in school again. I hope she likes it and thinks of me more often.

Her favorite color is green so I’m pretty sure it will fit right in her space!

Our bedroom inspiration!

Asian influenced bedroom inspiration

My wonderful fiancé always has a say in our space. You would think that because I am a designer, I’m the one with  full control over  the house but in the end it’s really ‘our’ space so his opinions do matter. Though I usually have the last word,  he is one tough client to please since we have different design perspectives. I have decided that the bedroom and living room will be based on what he likes, but the kitchen is all mine and he’ll just have no say in it! (okay maybe just a little.) ^-^

After a lot of patience and compromising, we finally agreed that the above space is ideal for the both of us. So our bedroom will have a calm, relaxing, cozy feel to it with an Asian influenced furniture set  and of course lots of natural materials. I cannot wait to make this happen. Stay tune!

Furniture Board..

This post will be about the furniture suggestions that I have researched for Karen’s space. It includes all of the items that are  recommend for the space based upon the floor plan that she has approved of. To save her some time, I actually might do the shopping for her <3. She can also use these recommendations to do her own shopping as well. I hope you like them Karen!

Studio layout

My sister just told me she found her studio, so right away I got to work laying out her space. She needs a sleeping area that fits a queen size bed, a desk for school works, a breakfast bar table double as a food prep area. She has plenty of storage space and a spacious bathroom so she doesn’t need much else. It was fun working on her space since I love a good challenge. The challenge is to maximize a small space that will includes all of the required areas and at the same give a room really good circulation. This is what I come up with.

She likes it… what do you think?

In love…

After all of these years I am still so very in love (if not more in love) with him. He really makes me so happy. So happy that in fact it was so scary to think if one day he somehow gone from my life I don’t think I will ever be the same. He’s my LIFE, my only true love, please God protect him! Forever is not long enough!

My Living Room

Here is a sneak preview of my living room (not the actual room but the colors that will be in it). When asked, my fiance really wants a calm living space where he can relax after a long day of work. He prefers something light and airy, but since the walls are beige, I have no choice but to work with it. Unfortunately, this means that I’ll have to do away with the color red! Well, at least in the living room hehe.

I came upon this painting and was inspired to design our space based upon these color inspirations. I cannot wait to get started on our apartment, but I’ll have to hold back until August!

Can’t help but pass this on…

Everyone needs a laugh esp. on a Friday right? This new blog Catalogliving takes on a whole new perspective of the interior spaces that we often see in catalogs and magazine. This twist is kind of awesome. Check it out.

There is a difference…

Interior Designer or Decorator: What’s the Difference?

The terms “interior designer” and “interior decorator” are often used interchangeably, as if they were identical professions. And while both may have the ability and talent to create beautiful rooms — as well as roles that often overlap — the two are not synonymous.

Okay, then what’s the difference between interior design and decoration? Webster’s defines interior design as “the art or practice of planning and supervising the design and execution of architectural interiors and their furnishings.” But, under interior decoration it states, “See interior design.” No wonder so many people are confused. Let’s take a brief look at both and then try to clarify the differences between interior designers and interior decorators.

Summer Loving…

Chicago Lake Front

What a beautiful day in the neighborhood! My day started early so I got to enjoy every minute of this gorgeous day in Chicago. After lugging three bags full of clothing that the FI and I have sorted through during our summer cleaning to our local church, I was totally grateful to have an empty cart. You see, I was walking for at least a mile with my cart and was all sweaty and yucky but the Chicago breeze was such a blessing because it cooled me down instantly. With my empty cart, I casually strolled back to my apartment while at the same time enjoying the blooming flowers all around our neighborhood. The flowers were lovely and full of vibrant colors. I cannot wait to finally move into the new space because the first thing that I will do is get some beautiful flowers for the house! I’ll just have to share. Aren’t you jealous that my neighborhood is better than yours? lol I am kidding! Please take a look =)
